Baking Instructions – Italian-Style Focaccia Mix
You will need:
- 1 packet Italian yeast (included in the mix)
- 1 teaspoon sugar (for proofing yeast)
- Warm water
- Olive oil
- Flaky salt or toppings (optional)
Proof the yeast
In a small bowl, combine the yeast packet, 1 teaspoon sugar, and warm water (about 105–110°F).
Stir gently and let sit 5–10 minutes, until foamy.
Mix the dough
In a large bowl, add the focaccia mix.
Pour in the proofed yeast mixture and additional warm water as directed.
Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
Cover and let rest 20 minutes.
Drizzle the olive oil over the dough.
Using your hands or a spatula, gently fold the dough over itself a few times until the oil is absorbed and the dough looks smoother.
Cover and let rest 20 minutes.
Pan & rise
Generously oil a baking pan.
Transfer dough to the pan, turning once to coat with oil.
Gently stretch toward the edges without forcing.
Cover and let rise 30–45 minutes, until puffy and jiggly.
Dimple & bake
Preheat oven to 425°F.
Dimple the dough deeply with oiled fingertips.
Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with flaky salt or desired toppings.
Bake 20–25 minutes, until golden brown.
Cool & enjoy
Remove from oven and cool slightly before slicing.
Best enjoyed warm.
